European Capital of Culture Tallinn 2011
International Children and Youth Songfestival Tähtede Laul
14th- 16th of April 2011

 

International children and youth music festival TÄHTEDE LAUL 2011 brings together the best singers from all over the world, offering the quests of Tallinn concert experiences in various concert venues.

Within three days young artists give a lot of free concerts in Solaris and Viru Center.

 

For the year of 2011 the contest is changing its format, starting with the first international music festival for children and young people. The festival will remain the comparison of its musical abilities in the older age group (17-20 yr) of vocal soloists and ensembles for the last time. In the other age groups (3- 16 yr) the best singers perform their culture through ethno- pop genre and songs written by their home country composers.

- Several workshops and ethno concerts in Rocca al Mare Open Air Museum  

A game for the participants in Tallinn Old Town: “A Call of Culture”
Children walk around the Old Town with voice recorders/ mobiles and record all kind of different sounds which will be later put together. “ A Call of Culture” will be a mixed story of sounds and it will have its place in the beginning of the Gala Concert.

- Festival Gala Concert in Nokia Kontserdimaja at 18:00. Concert is hosted by the Tähtede Laul 2011 patron, Laura Põldvere and Venno Loosaar.
